Jens Jasche appointed new AI Coordinator for the Faculty of Science
Jens Jasche, astrophysicist at the Oskar Klein Centre (OKC), has been appointed the new AI Coordinator for the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. This appointment is part of the university's initiative to strengthen and broaden the use of artificial intelligence in research and education.

— Our goal is to facilitate the implementation of AI techniques across various research fields while also promoting the development of new AI methods tailored to the specific needs of the faculty,” says Jens Jasche.
The center, planned to be established in early 2026, is currently in the startup phase. The vision is to gather interdisciplinary researchers from across the natural sciences to identify key areas where AI can significantly contribute. Examples include large-scale data analysis, more efficient literature searches, scientific reporting, and faster, more advanced cosmological and climatological modeling.
— AI can also play a crucial role in designing new experiments and automating laboratories. We aim to create an interdisciplinary and productive work environment inspired by leading examples such as the University of Copenhagen and Johns Hopkins University,” Jens Jasche continues.
Alongside his role as AI Coordinator for the Faculty of Science, Jens Jasche has also been appointed as AI Coordinator for Stockholm University as a whole, together with Theresa Serratto Parkman from the Humanities area. Their task is to map the university's AI activities, report to the university management, and communicate ongoing initiatives to the wider region.
— The university has recognized the need for better oversight and coordination of our AI initiatives. This is an important step to ensure we remain at the forefront,” concludes Jens Jasche.
