About me
I am Associate Professor (Docent) in Slavic Languages with a specialization in Polish and Senior Lecturer in Polish Studies at Stockholm University. After completing my doctoral studies at the Baltic and East European Graduate School (BEEGS), Södertörn University, I received my PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures in 2007. My doctoral dissertation, From Her Point of View: Woman's Anti-World in the Poetry of Anna Świrszczyńska, was supervised by Professor Leonard Neuger and Professor Ebba Witt-Brattström.
I have been affiliated with Stockholm University since the 1990s. After completing my PhD, I returned to Stockholm University as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2014, I joined the Department as Assistant Professor (biträdande lektor) in Polish, and since 2018 I have served as Senior Lecturer in Polish Studies. Since autumn 2025, I have been responsible for Polish Studies. Between 2021 and 2024, I served as Deputy Head and Head of the Department of Slavic and Baltic Studies, Finnish, Dutch and German.
My research focuses on modern and contemporary Polish literature and culture, with particular interests in women’s writing, gender studies, cultural memory and postmemory in Central Europe, and women's history.
Teaching has been a major part of my career. Since 1997, I have taught Polish language, literature, culture, history, and society at both undergraduate and advanced levels. Over the years, I have developed several stand-alone courses and have extensive experience supervising Bachelor's and Master's theses in Polish language, literature, and culture.

I have taught Polish language and culture at Stockholm University since 1997 and have extensive experience teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels. My teaching covers Polish grammar, phonetics, oral and written language proficiency, morphology, syntax and phraseology, text analysis and translation; literature, literary analysis, literary history, culture, history and contemporary society.
In addition to the regular Polish language programme, I have developed and taught a range of stand-alone courses, including The Holocaust in Polish Literature, Poland after 1989: A Land of Contrasts, Poland Yesterday and Today (history and contemporary society), and History of Polish Literature. At the advanced level, I teach Teaching and Learning Languages Other Than English (LOTE) as well as courses in Polish literature and non-fiction.
In addition to teaching, I have extensive experience supervising Bachelor's and Master's theses in Polish language, literature, and culture. I have supervised student's research projects on a wide range of topics. I also regularly serve as an examiner for degree theses.
