Nobel Calling at SUBIC

On 8 October, visitors joined SUBIC to explore how researchers study the brain. A school visit organised by Vetenskapens Hus (House of Science) followed on 12 October as part of Nobel Calling Stockholm.

The public visit took place on 8 October as part of Nobel Calling Stockholm, which ran from 5 to 12 October 2026. SUBIC offered tours in Swedish at 14:00 and in English at 16:00.

On 12 October, researcher Rita Almeida and colleagues welcomed a school group to SUBIC, bringing this year’s school visits to a close. For the second year, Vetenskapens Hus, a collaboration between KTH and Stockholm University, coordinated visits to participating research environments. This year’s expanded programme gave more pupils the opportunity to meet researchers, ask questions and discover how research is done.

At SUBIC, researchers investigate the brain’s structure and function, but the centre’s work extends beyond brain imaging. Through talks, activities and discussion, visitors learned about different tools and research questions. Demonstrations of a mock MRI scanner, an X-ray microscope and eye tracking were complemented by lectures and a quiz, introducing research in neuroscience, zoology, palaeontology and food science.
