Seminar: From 3D Models to Knowledge Ecosystems - Rethinking Archaeological Collections
SEMINAR
Date: Thursday 12 March 2026
Time: 09:00 - 10:00
Location: Zoom
Speaker: Professor Nicolò Dell'Unto, Lund University
Abstract
Dynamic Collections explores how 3D models of archaeological artefacts function not as endpoints of analysis, but as active nodes within a digital knowledge ecosystem. Focusing on surface-based 3D representations, the platform links artefacts to contextual data, interpretative layers, and collaborative practices, allowing knowledge to evolve over time.
Professor Nicolò Dell'Unto's work focuses on 3D visualisation in archaeology, specifically on how different visualisation technologies influence research practices, from landscape analysis to artefact study.
