Valérie Alfvén Keynote speaker at CLTS 2026 in Olomouc
Valérie Alfvén gave one of the keynote lectures at the international conference Children's Literature and Translation Studies (CLTS) 2026 at Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic, 26–28 August 2026.

The conference followed on from the CLTS conference held at Stockholm University in 2024, organised by our Institute for Interpreting and Translation Studies (TÖI) together with international partners.
With participants from 21 countries, the papers showed just how dynamic the field has become. Valérie Alfvén had been invited to map the discipline as it stands today and to sketch an agenda for the years ahead.
Another sign of the field's momentum: the special issue Current Voices in Children's Literature Translation Studies, guest edited by Sara Van Meerbergen, Valérie Alfvén, Pilar Alderete Diez, Owen Harrington-Fernandez and Charlotte Lindgren, was published in International Research in Children's Literature (IRCL) in June 2026, and IRCL has decided to move quarterly, with the fourth issue devoted entirely to children's literature translation studies. A real step forward for the discipline.
