Spring 2026 three international students took part in the course Teacher Training Placement for Exchange Students at Stockholm University. The course is given at the Department of Teaching and Learning and highly appreciated by exchange students.

Helene Piening from the University of Hamburg, Lea Josefin Rösing genannt Stock from Justus Liebig University Giessen and Ana Šubic from the University of Ljubljana experienced a teaching placement at international schools in Stockholm and were teaching primary and lower secondary school students in various subjects.

Back in campus Helene, Lea and Ana had a last seminar talking and reflecting on their experiences from the teacher training course.

“A great experience”

Helene Piening had her internship at Internationella Engelska Skolan in Liljeholmen, a district in the south of Stockholm:

— The practicum was a great experience for me! It was very interesting to teach the same kind of pupils I'm going to teach in Germany, but in this case in a Swedish school. Also to experience a course in orienteering in the subject of Physical Education, which is something we don't have in Germany but here it's really a big thing.

— My time at Internationella Engelska Skolan was very nice and an inspiration for my future teaching in Germany.

“Kind of an inspiration”

Lea Josefin Rösing genannt Stock did her practicum at Engelska Skolan Norr, in the north part of Stockholm City.

— I feel that I actually made friends with Swedish people during this internship. Also, I was so happy that the school had so many multicultural influences. A lot of the staff come from many parts of the world and I think it's good for the children to see this variety of backgrounds. It was kind of an inspiration and maybe this is not the end for me in Sweden.

“I loved it”

Ana Šubic had her teacher training at Internationella Engelska Skolan in Bromma, in the north of Stockholm:

— I could see many specific aspects of the Swedish Education system and that made the whole Erasmus experience much more valuable. Normally, Erasmus courses are still much university dependent, not so country specific, and to actually visit a Swedish school really gives you a total cultural immersion, and I loved it! I can’t wait implementing all these good practices in my home country.
