Congratulations! What went through your mind when you received the news?

“I was happy and felt very honoured. It is an academic milestone. When I got the message, I was just about to go on stage to present my research project SeRO to my colleagues at the department. So it was extra great timing and nice to be introduced as docent.”

What are you most looking forward to professionally?

“To start my research group for the SeRO project, financed by the European Research Council (ERC). I have two PhD students and a research assistant who are starting to work with me this spring. It feels fantastic to see a research project grow from idea to reality, and to be a mentor to three gritty and competent people who are about to start their research careers.”

SeRO is a five year project aimed at studying how violent crime affects the sexual and reproductive health among the population in Mexico. The project is conducted in collaboration with El Colegio de México (Colmex).
