Magnus Axelsson Prize 2026

Magnus was one of our most valued colleagues. The Prize has been awarded since 2023.
Viggo Kraft is awarded the Magnus Axelsson Prize for the vision to give highly ambitious upper‑secondary students the opportunity to study physics and astronomy at Stockholm University before graduating, as well as for the initiative to strengthen the study environment within the research track.
The concept of admitting exceptionally motivated high‑school students to university courses is already used with great success at the Department of Mathematics, and Viggo's proposal brings this proven model into physics.
Viggo will use an extensive network within various science organizations to promote the opportunity and actively inform upper‑secondary schools. In addition, VK aims to improve the study environment within the research track, ensuring that this group of high‑performing students encounters a stimulating and sustainable academic setting as they continue their studies.
