About the book Women's Film Histories in Scandinavia: Historiography, Screenwriting and Costume Design
The collection is the result of a collaboration between the University of Copenhagen, Stockholm University, the Swedish Film Institute and the National Library of Norway on a series of three explorative workshops entitled “Feminist Film History in Scandinavia: New Approaches, Methodologies, and Connections”. The workshops, held in Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo in 2022 and 2023, were funded by the Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOS-HS) and gathered film and media scholars, film archivists, and film professionals from our three Scandinavian countries, as well as international experts, to examine neglected aspects of gender in the Nordic film industries past and present.
The collection is edited by Anna Sofia Rossholm, Ingrid Synneva Holtar, Louise Wallenberg and Eirik Frisvold Hanssen and contains 14 contributions discussing historiography, screenwriting and costume by film and media scholars from Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Edited by Hanssen, Holtar, Rossholm and Wallenberg (Nota Bene, 2026).
Participants: Louise Wallenberg, Anna Sofia Rossholm, Eirik Frisvold Hanssen, Maria Fosheim Lund, Anne Jerslev, Ingrid Ryberg, Dagmar Brunow, Anne Bachmann, Tytti Soila, and Tove Torslund.
