Celebrating the next step after the Bachelor's Degree at BIG
On 8 May, BIG invited this year’s Bachelor’s students, together with alumni who began their studies ten years ago, to a joint dinner at the Faculty Club to celebrate the completion of the students’ undergraduate studies. The evening was marked by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with many conversations about student life and future plans.
A total of 25 Bachelor’s students and one alumnus attended the dinner. For many of the students, the next step will be postgraduate study: of those present, 20 are planning to continue on to Master’s programmes, and around a dozen will remain at BIG for their further studies. The evening’s alumnus, who began his studies ten years ago, spoke about his various career paths and shared valuable advice on what to consider when applying for jobs.
Niklas Janz, Head of Department at BIG, welcomed the students to the next stage of their journey in biology.
During the evening, Niklas Janz spoke about the importance of a scientific approach and of making use of the curiosity and critical perspective developed through academic study. BIG’s Collaboration Coordinator, Birgitta Åkerman, also addressed the students, focusing particularly on questions of values, attitudes, and how education shapes the way we view the world around us.
The evening also featured musical entertainment by Tobbe Ljunglöf, who performed appreciated songs with biology-themed lyrics. The musical performances contributed to the relaxed and personal atmosphere, prompting both laughter and recognition among the guests.
The dinner was a much-appreciated opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Bachelor’s students together and to look ahead to the next stage in biology.
