Thank you for choosing Stockholm University! In order to ensure that your studies begin as smoothly as possible we have compiled a short checklist for the beginning of term.

Activate your university account and make an online registration

Before your studies begin you need to activate your university account and make an online registration for your courses.

Once you have activated your account you will be able to registrer for your courses, as well as order your university card and get access to the library resources, printing and scanning.

At our department you make an online registration in Ladok which you can access with your university account.

Canvas and Ladok for students

When you have registred for your course/courses you will have access to Canvas which is a web-based learning and collaboration platform for courses at Stockholm University. In Canvas you will find detailed information about your course such as lecture planning, literature lists, exams and schedule changes.

You can also use Canvas through a mobile app available for both iOS and Android. We recommend downloading the app to your smartphone for quick access to schedule changes and other course updates.

In Ladok for students you will find record of current and completed education. You can also registrer for exams in Ladok.

Schedule

As a registred student you can easily see your course(s) schedule by login with your university account. Please note that the schedule is preliminary and is subject to change. When you are logged in, click on "My assembled schedule".

To participate in web-based teaching, you need to install the e-meeting service Zoom on your computer. Follow our advice below to get started with Zoom.

Zoom is an e-meeting service that Stockholm University uses as a tool for web-based teaching and web-based meetings. Read and follow these instructions and you will get started with Zoom in a simple and smooth way.

To participate in web-based teaching, you need to install Zoom on the digital device you want to use. It is best if you use a computer with a webcam.

Once you have installed Zoom, you can participate in seminars, lectures, and meetings remotely. You will log in via special links that you receive from your teacher.

Some tips for you who use Zoom

To create good conditions for learning, we recommend that you keep the following in mind:

• Try to find a calm and undisturbed place without movement in the background.
• Prepare by getting the link for the teaching session/meeting ready well in advance.
• Log in well before the teaching session/meeting starts so you are ready to participate from the beginning.
• Keep your microphone off (mute). Turn on the microphone when you have the floor, then turn it off again.
• Get out the material you need, such as course literature and note-taking materials, before the teaching session/meeting starts.
• Position your computer's camera/screen at face level – a stack of books underneath works well.

Also keep in mind that a wired connection provides better connectivity than a wireless connection, and that if several people are using the connection at the same time, it may affect image and sound quality.

Application for credits transfer

We accept applications for credit transfer for studies at a university abroad through Ladok

Use your university account and log into Ladok and go to the page for "Apply for" and then choose "Crediting" and follow the instructions.

Below, you will find information about credit transfer of studies from a university abroad for students who have been admitted to, or completed, a course or programme at Stockholm University.

Credit transfer

At the Student Office you can register for courses (in cases where you can't register online), get study certificates and obtain help with other administrative matters concerning your studies. Here you will also find timetables, course programs and reading lists for all the Department’s courses as well as information about the Department’s activities in general.

If you run into any troubles when registering for a course online, or if you need to re-register you can always contact the Student office.
