Open Call for Nominations: Bolin Centre Database Coordinator

The Bolin Centre Database provides open access to climate and Earth-system research data and source code produced by researchers within the Centre and their collaborators. The Database Coordinator works closely with the Technical Database Manager, the Bolin Centre community and the Research Data Management Team at the University Library, to support high-quality research data management and open science.

Required qualifications

• Scientific competence at least at Docent level, or equivalent.
  
• Experience with climate or Earth-system research data.
  
• Good understanding of research data management, open science and FAIR data principles.
  
• Experience of coordinating activities and working across research groups and disciplines.
  
• Knowledge of research data infrastructures and data publication is an advantage.

Responsibilities

The Database Coordinator will:

• Coordinate the scientific development and activities of the Bolin Centre Database.
  
• Support researchers in making research data and source code accessible, well documented and reusable.
  
• Promote good practice in research data management, metadata, FAIR data and open science.
  
• Work closely with the Technical Database Manager, and the Research Data Management Team at the University Libary, on the continued development of the Database.
  
• Facilitate communication between researchers, the Database team and relevant research-data infrastructures and support functions.
  
• Represent the Database within the Bolin Centre, including participation in the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG).
  
• Help identify future needs and opportunities for development of the Database and its services.

The Bolin Centre Database is an established research infrastructure with more than 500 published datasets and a dedicated technical database manager. The Database Coordinator plays an important role in connecting the technical infrastructure with the scientific needs of the Bolin Centre community.

Occupation: 20% of full time, paid by the Bolin Centre

Expected start date: 1st of December, or thereafter whenever possible

Nominations should include a brief description of the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, together with a short outline of how the candidate would like to contribute to the development of the Bolin Centre Database.
