Exploring Opportunities for Stockholm University Researchers at TechBBQ

How can researchers at Stockholm University connect with the Nordic innovation ecosystem and turn research into new collaborations and opportunities? SU Innovation Office recently joined TechBBQ in Copenhagen to explore just that – and to investigate how SU researchers and PhD students could benefit from being part of the event in the future.

Representatives from the Stockholm University Innovation Office recently attended TechBBQ 2026, one of the leading startup and innovation events in the Nordic region. Held annually in Copenhagen, TechBBQ brings together entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, industry representatives and other players from the innovation ecosystem to exchange ideas, build connections and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Connecting research with the innovation ecosystem

During the event, the team från SU Innovation Office networked with startups, investors, universities and other organisations to explore how Stockholm University researchers and PhD students could benefit from participating in and engaging with the TechBBQ community. Potential opportunities include showcasing research and innovations, connecting with companies and investors, finding partners for collaborative projects, exploring commercialisation opportunities, and gaining insights into current trends and developments across the Nordic innovation ecosystem.

Exploring opportunities for SU researchers

Our visit was also an opportunity to learn more about how universities can engage with TechBBQ and similar innovation arenas, and what formats could be most valuable for researchers at Stockholm University.

We are now investigating what opportunities and support we could offer SU researchers in connection with next year’s TechBBQ, with support from Vinnova. More information will follow as these plans develop.

If you are a researcher or PhD student interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, collaboration with industry, or bringing research beyond academia, stay tuned for opportunities to get involved.
