The history of political ideas deals with questions about political identity and emotions, but also with the history of ideologies and political concepts.
An example of this is the political potential of myth in feminism. The political is treated as the effect of long historical lines but also as crucial to current political debate.

During the years 2023–2027 doctoral education is provided in collaboration between Uppsala University, Gothenburg University, Stockholm University and Södertörn University. It is partly financed by the Swedish Research Council. The PhD students study six courses together, while participating in each institution's research and other activities. Two of the PhD students are doing their postgraduate studies at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics.
