Research area Slavic languages

Research in Slavic languages and literatures at Stockholm University is conducted in the following areas: modern linguistics, language history, literary studies and cultural studies.

The Slavic department employs eleven researchers, four of which are professors, and four are associate professors. In addition, there are currently ten doctoral students.

Czech studies

At the Slavic department, research is conducted in both Czech linguistics and Czech literature.

Polish studies

The subject of Polish at Stockholm University is primarily oriented towards literary and cultural studies. Linguistic issues are integral to all our research, especially in the fields of translation studies and contrastive studies.

Slavic linguistics

Linguistic research in Slavic languages ​​is conducted at the department, which includes both individual languages ​​(Polish, Russian and Czech), and typological and contrastive comparisons between the Slavic languages ​​and other languages.
