We investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern interactions between the immune system, the microbiota, and host tissues in health and disease.
Our research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate communication between the microbiota, epithelial barriers, the immune system, and host tissues. Using longitudinal human cohorts together with experimental cellular, organoid, and animal models, we investigate how microbial and host-derived signals shape immune-cell differentiation, epigenetic and metabolic programming, barrier function, inflammation, and tissue repair. These mechanisms are studied in immune-mediated contexts including allergy and immune tolerance, asthma, cancer therapy-related toxicity, and cardiovascular disease.
