About me
I am an Associate Professor of Business Administration and Senior Lecturer in the Marketing Section of the Department of Business Administration at Stockholm University. I received my PhD from Stockholm University in 2011, with the dissertation Mat, kärlek och metapraktik: En studie i vardagsmiddagskonsumtion bland ensamstående mödrar [Food, Love and Metapractice: A Study of Everyday Dinner Consumption among Single Mothers], which draws on my interdisciplinary background in business administration and ethnology. This background also proved valuable during my time as a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Fashion Studies in the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University.
Previously, I was also an affiliated researcher at the Center for Arts, Business and Culture at the Stockholm School of Economics Research Institute and a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Center, City University of New York (2017–2019).
My research examines how consumption is used as a symbolic resource through which people express their understanding of the world, including identity and belonging. I am particularly interested in everyday life and the processes of meaning-making that permeate our routines, especially those related to parenthood. My research also explores how political projects shape consumption as a symbolic resource, with school choice as a current example. I examine how cultural contexts and market logics shape parents’ choices and schools’ positions in the school market. I also study how brands participate in the continuous co-creation of consumer cultures. Methodological questions are another central interest.
My research has been published in journals such as Journal of Consumer Research, Qualitative Market Research: An International Journal, Marketing Theory, Consumption, Markets and Culture, Journal of Macromarketing, Research in Consumer Behavior and Advances in Consumer Research, as well as in international edited volumes.
