About me
I am a drama philologist, actor, director, and educator with a specialization in Czech theater, drama, and the culture of the interwar period. My academic journey began at Charles University in Prague and continued at Linköping University and Stockholm University, which has provided me with a deep and versatile understanding of the dynamics of theater.
Additional qualifications:
- Actor and director focused on physical theater and commedia dell'arte.
- Jury member in international melodrama competitions (2012, 2016).
Since the year 2000, I have had the privilege of teaching Czech literature, drama, cultural history, and language at Stockholm University.
I have extensive experience in teaching acting and physical acting at various theater schools in the Czech Republic and Sweden, as well as leading courses in classical theater forms such as commedia dell'arte.
I conduct research on female characters in the plays of Jiří Voskovec and Jan Werich within the avant-garde theater, Osvobozené divadlo. My focus is on exploring how female roles are shaped in relation to their male counterparts and how these portrayals influence contemporary interpretations of female identity. My research is based on analysis of dramatic texts and specifically targets how female characters are presented in relation to the tradition of commedia dell'arte. I aim to highlight how female agency is formed and expressed through dramatic texts and prevailing cultural norms.
