Joe Roussos Researcher

I am a Pro Futura Scientia Fellow and researcher at the Department of Philosophy. I currently lead the RJ-funded research project Modeling as a Method of Philosophy (2026-2029).

Previously, I was a researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies ,where I was the PI of the VR-funded project Expertise in crises (2023-25), which studied the role of experts in high uncertainty, high stakes situations like the Covid-19 pandemic.

My work spans decision theory, social epistemology, and philosophy of science. I tend to work on decision-making under conditions of severe uncertainty, the use of expertise, and scientific modelling, especially as a source of evidence for decisions.

I did my PhD in philosophy at the London School of Economics, working with Roman Frigg and Richard Bradley.
