About me
My research focuses on equity, equality and educational support within the education system in relation to the ideals of the Swedish welfare state.
I am especially interested in how structural processes on different levels impact on schools' provision of educational support.
Lecturer and teacher at Stockholm University's teacher education and the Special Educators programme.
How do schools prioritize when resources are not sufficient for all students in need of educational support? This is a pivotal question in my research. As a sociologist, I focus on the structural processes and power dynamics involved in the provision of educational support. These dynamics operate within schools, local education agencies, and the central government, but also among and within us all—the people who ultimately bring schools and society into being.
I am currently researching:
- The distribution and rationing of assessments, individual action plans, and educational support in lower secondary schools.
- The marginalization of multilingual students from the field of special education and from in-school special educational support.
- The growing phenomenon of “resource schools” in Sweden, and which students come to be included in them.
- The repositioning of special education and special educational practices in schools and society.
