A serious security vulnerability in the PHP programming language has affected websites and IT systems globally.
As a precautionary measure, Sunet temporarily shut down several services used by the university, including the Kaltura video service, Box, and Sunet Drive/Nextcloud. Following the installation of security updates, most services are now back in operation.
The university's central IT systems have not been affected. IT Services has blocked internet access to vulnerable systems identified within departments and has encouraged departments to review and, where necessary, update their own systems. Departments whose systems had external access disabled are asked to contact IT Services to have internet access restored.
IT Services is monitoring developments and will continue to follow any recommendations issued by authorities and service providers.
