From courses starting in the autumn semester 2026.

You can log in to canvas.su.se using your university account. Courses will become visible once you are registered and the teacher has published the course.

Please note that it may take up to 48 hours before your university account is completely activated.

No, you log in with your usual university account. Log in via canvas.su.se

Yes, Canvas works well in web browsers and also has popular mobile apps for iPhone/iOS and Android. Please note that the mobile apps do not have all functionality. When selecting a study group or handing in a quiz, for example, it is better to go to canvas.su.se in your web browser.

If a page is white or blinks, you can often solve it by doing the following:

  • Make sure your web browser is updated to the last version.
  • Clean the web browser cache from cookies from su.se.

  • Log out of Canvas. You will be automatically logged in again.

 They will automatically appear on your Canvas dashboard once you are registered for the course.

In your personal settings in Canvas, you can choose your preferred default language:

  1. Select Konto > Inställningar (Account > Settings) in Canvas left hand menu.
  2. Click the button [Redigera inställningar] (Edit settings) on the right-hand side.
  3. Change to your preferred language in the drop-down menu Språk
    [Svenska(Sverige) ] (Language).
  4. Save by clicking the button [Uppdatera inställningar] (Update settings).

Click in the Canvas left-hand menu to refresh the page and view the selected language.

When you switch the language in the web interface, it will also change in the mobile app.

Please note that this setting does not affect the language of a specific course, as this is a setting controlled by the instructor.

No, earlier courses will remain in Athena during a transitional period.

No, course requirements and grades will not be affected.

The Canvas interface is intuitive and easy to learn, and most users don't need formal training.

 You can set which messages you want Canvas to send via the menu Account > Notification.

Contact your teacher or student expedition first. If they cannot answer, then submit your question to IT-support via Serviceportalen

Athena will be phased out during 2026 and fully replaced by Canvas.

Any course materials, assignments or essays that you wish to keep from Athena must be downloaded before the end of 2026, as Athena will be closed after that. Course syllabuses, course materials, assignments and other content stored in Athena will be reviewed and then archived from 2027 onwards.
