The Holocaust in German Literature and Film
This course examines the Holocaust in German-language literature and film. By focusing on key moments after 1945, students will discuss questions such as: How has the Holocaust been depicted? Through what language or linguistic forms? And through what images?
The course addresses various theoretical perspectives on the Holocaust in literature and film, as well as the social and historical contexts in which they were created. It also explores how literature and film about the Holocaust have influenced societal discourses, and vice versa. The memory culture surrounding the Holocaust is also covered.
