Culture in the German speaking countries II
This course provides in-depth knowledge of the German language and the culture and history of the German speaking countries from 1871–1933 from a cultural studies perspective. The course also practices oral proficiency in German, in formal, informal, and academic contexts.
The course is a freestanding module of the German II course and is a continuation course of the German I course.
The course consists of two modules.
Modules
Culture in the German Speaking Countries, 4,5 credits
This module covers culture and history in the German-speaking countries from 1871–1933 from a cultural studies perspective.
Language exercises, 3 credits
This module focuses on practising spoken German in various formal, academic and everyday situations, partly in connection with the module Culture in the German speaking Countries II, 4.5 credits.
Teaching Format
Teaching consists of (recorded) lectures, seminars, and (group) exercises.
The language of instruction is German.
Assessment
The examination is conducted in German.
Culture in the German Speaking Countries II, 4,5 credits
This module is examined through a group oral exam.
Language exercises, 3 credits
This module is assessed continuously through oral presentations at each seminar.
