Number theory

The course covers the basics of number theory; the quadratic reciprocity theorem, unique prime factorization of ideals in rings of algebraic integers, the finiteness of the class number, Dirichlet's theorem of primes in arithmetic progressions.

This course is given jointly with KTH, and information about schedule, course literature etc. can be found on KTH's pages - see links below.

Though it is not a requirement for admission, knowledge equivalent to the course Mathematics III - Complex analysis is recommended before starting this course.

The course consists of one element.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
