Research Traineeship in Environmental Science

Have you completed Research Traineeship in Environmental Science I and wish to gain further experience in environmental research? This course provides an opportunity to deepen your involvement in ongoing research projects and to develop a broader understanding of the research process.

Working under supervision, you will participate in the daily activities of a research laboratory or research group. In addition to practical research tasks, you will develop your ability to evaluate scientific methods, discuss challenges encountered during research, and reflect on your own learning and professional development.

The course is particularly valuable for students considering a degree project, graduate studies, or a future career in research or environmental science.

What will you do?

Depending on the host research group and project, activities may include:

  • laboratory work
  • field sampling and environmental monitoring
  • data processing and analysis
  • literature reviews
  • participation in research meetings and seminars
  • documentation and evaluation of research activities

What will you learn?

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • describe and justify the methods used in your work
  • apply knowledge and skills obtained during previous studies
  • discuss challenges encountered during the traineeship and how they were addressed
  • reflect on your own learning and identify areas for future development

How to apply

The course is only available to students enrolled in the Environmental Science programmes at Stockholm University, at both Bachelor's and Master's level. The course is not open for external applications. Students interested in taking the course should contact the course coordinator.

Students are responsible for arranging their own placement and identifying a suitable research group and supervisor. The course coordinator can provide guidance and support in this process.

Assessment
