French, Bachelor’s Course is a final undergraduate course aimed at deepening students’ scholarly competence in French linguistics or literary and cultural studies. The course consists of an independent degree project worth 15 credits and two compulsory modules of 7.5 credits each, focusing on linguistics and literary studies respectively. Through theoretical and methodological specialization, students develop their ability to formulate research questions, analyze linguistic and literary material, and produce and orally defend academic texts in French. Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures and seminars and is primarily carried out in French.
The course is structured around an independent degree project supported by two parallel advanced modules. The structure aims to progressively develop students’ scholarly skills and to anchor the degree project in relevant theoretical and methodological perspectives.
Modules
The course consists of three components which together deepen students’ scholarly competence and prepare them for independent academic work.
Bachelor’s Degree Project (15 credits)
In the degree project, students carry out an independent scholarly study in French linguistics or literary and cultural studies. The project involves formulating a clearly defined research question, applying relevant theories and methods, and presenting the results both orally and in writing in accordance with academic conventions.
Advanced Literary Studies (7.5 credits)
This module introduces current research areas in literary and cultural studies. The course is based on French-language primary literature and aims to develop students’ ability to analyze and critically examine literary texts using key theoretical concepts and methods.
Advanced Linguistic Studies (7.5 credits)
This module provides an in-depth understanding of modern linguistic theories and methods. The focus is on analyzing the structure, variation, and use of language, as well as on applying theoretical perspectives to linguistic data."
