Spotlight on Middle East: Major Issues and Perspectives

The course provides an introduction to the academic study of the Middle East, from both a historical and a contemporary perspective.

This is achieved through an overview of a number of selected key themes within Middle Eastern studies. Within this framework, relevant theory and previous research will be examined. The themes of the course vary and are determined prior to the start of each new term.

The course consists of one module worth 7.5 credits.

Teaching Format

Teaching consists of lectures and seminars.

Attendance at all teaching sessions is compulsory.

Teaching is conducted in Swedish and/or English, as specified for each session of the course.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a written assignment in the form of an essay.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
Course reports are displayed for the three most recent course instances.
