SUCCeSS x WISE Circularity Workshop
On 28–29 September, SUCCeSS and WISE invited researchers and experts from academia and industry to a workshop focusing on circular materials and sustainable chemistry.

Around 80 participants gathered for 1.5 days of inspiring presentations, engaging panel discussions and interactive group discussions. The workshop brought together a broad range of perspectives and expertise to explore different aspects of circularity, from the use of renewable and fossil-based carbon to the challenges associated with toxic chemicals and the importance of life cycle assessment in circular materials research.
The programme was organised into four sessions:
- Circular carbon (biobased)
- Toxic chemicals in circular streams
- Life cycle assessment in circular materials research
- Circular carbon (fossil-based)
Each session brought together researchers and experts from different disciplines and sectors, followed by panel discussions that provided an opportunity to reflect on the presentations and discuss broader challenges and opportunities. The combination of academic perspectives, industry experience and interdisciplinary discussions created a lively environment for exchanging knowledge and exploring new ideas.
Throughout the workshop, participants had the opportunity to share knowledge, exchange experiences and discuss ideas across disciplinary and organisational boundaries. The many discussions highlighted both the complexity of achieving circularity and the importance of collaboration between different research fields, academia and industry.
We would like to thank all speakers, chairs and participants for contributing their knowledge, experiences and perspectives and for making the workshop such an engaging and stimulating event. We hope that the discussions will continue beyond the workshop and lead to new ideas, connections and collaborations in the field of circularity, circular materials and sustainable chemistry.
