Interview with Honghong Li

Honghong Li, a part of the SUCCeSS network, recently completed a short research exchange at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany, between 12–27 June 2025.

What was the best part of the exchange to PIK?
– The best part was connecting with experts in the field, spending time learning from each other, and exploring opportunities to collaborate and write proposals together.

What surprised you the most during your stay, both in terms of research and culture?
– Visiting Niklas Boers’ lab in Potsdam, I was surprised to see only one female researcher in the group. On a lighter note, having lunch with people from Jan Minx’s lab, I discovered that the pizza near the office was surprisingly delicious and quite affordable compared to Sweden!

How will the exchange contribute to the SUCCeSS network’s future research?
– The exchange strengthened connections between SUCCeSS and PIK, paving the way for future collaborations, particularly in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to evidence synthesis.

If you could go back tomorrow, what would you like to explore further or do differently?
– I would like to explore ways to collaborate on proposals that focus on the climate–biodiversity–health nexus, especially within EU projects.
