Watch the Recording – Unlocking Lignin for Circular Biofuels

On February 17th Lala Ramazanova, PhD at Departmet of Chemistry at SU, moderated a SUCCeSS Lunch webinar on the topic of Unlocking Lignin for Circular Biofuels: From Forest Residues to Fuel-Grade Hydrocarbons.

The efficient utilization of lignin, an abundant but underutilized biomass component, is a key challenge in developing sustainable biofuels. By valorizing forest residues such as spruce / birch bark and wood into fuel-grade hydrocarbons, recent research is pursued to support circularity, reduce reliance on fossil resources, and contribute to a sustainable bioeconomy.

Martin Staš, Ph.D. Professor (Assistant) at University of chemistry and technology in Prague, gave insights into the topic of “High resolution mass spectrometry and simulated distillation in analysis of alternative fuels and feedstocks.”

Christian Hulteberg, Professor at the department of chemical engineering at Lund University of Technology presented the topic of Lignin, an industrial source of carbon, or not?
