SUCCeSS recap of 2025
2025 was a milestone year for SUCCeSS, marked by strong international visibility and strategic development. The centre’s flagship achievement was hosting the Nobel Symposium Chemistry for Sustainability: Fundamental Advances in May.
The symposium brought together around 30 leading international researchers alongside industry representatives, policymakers, educators, and civil society, positioning SUCCeSS as a global convenor for interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable chemistry and systems change. Various satellite events during the symposium week broadened engagement and strengthened links between science, policy, industry, and the public.
A key outcome of the symposium was the launch of the Stockholm Declaration on Chemistry for the Future, a global call to action promoting safe, circular, and sustainable chemistry across research, education, policy, and industry. At the end of the year, close to 2000 people from academia, industry and business had signed the Declaration and SUCCeSS continued to disseminate the initiative in forums like European universities and research events. The year was also marked by monthly lunch webinars bringing about perspectives and new insights on sustainability and circularity, and external collaborations with entities like Bergh school of communication, MistraSafeChem and Swedish Chemical Society.
SUCCeSS expanded its community and visibility through new communication channels, growing social media presence and increased international recognition, laying a solid foundation for long-term leadership in sustainable chemistry.
In light of SUCCeSS’s development and progress during the year, new strategic priorities were defined for the new phase emphasizing interdisciplinarity, stronger city and industry collaboration, education, communication, and networking for impact. We hope you will continue to be part of the SUCCeSS journey and help broaden knowledge and dialogue on circularity and sustainability in the year ahead!
