Bio

Hervé Ascensio is professor of international law at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Sorbonne Law School). He acted as counsel in several cases before the International Court of Justice, and as an expert before investment arbitral tribunals. He is a conciliator at the Court of conciliation and arbitration within the OSCE, and a national expert for the OSCE human dimension. He is the author of numerous publications on general public international law, international criminal law, and international economic law; in particular, he co-edited a treatise on international criminal law (Pedone, 2012, 3rd ed forthcoming) and wrote a handbook on international economic law (PUF, 2020). In January 2022, he taught a special course at the Hague Academy of International Law on the responsibility of business entreprises in international law. He is co-editor of the Annuaire français de droit international (French yearbook of international law).
