Welcome to our Language Cafes!
The Cafes start from 21 September (The Slavic Cafe from 29 September)

  • Check in at the front desk before joining a cafe
  • You don't need to register in advance if you are a student at SU
  • Japanese Cafes - You need to sign up in advance (opens on Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. for the next week's cafes)

As a Language Cafe Coordinator, you help other students practi your language in a relaxed setting. You share your language and culture while actively contributing to student life.

Join us and enjoy an international community!

Welcome to join as a Language Cafe Coordinator!

Email us at info@sprakstudion.su.se and include:

  • Which language you speak
  • Whether you would like to be on campus or online (via Zoom)

You can join anytime during the semester.

A Language Cafe Coordinator should know the cafe language on a native level.

The basic tasks of a coordinator are to:

  • Provide topics and get conversations started
  • Make sure that conversations are flowing smoothly
  • Try to make sure that all participants are included
  • Ask and answer questions

Coordinators are expected to:

  • Join the meeting room five minutes before the cafe starts to check in
  • Notify Språkstudion in advance if they are unable to attend

What you get:

  • The opportunity to share your language and culture with other students
  • A chance to get to know new people and make friends
  • Experience of leading a group

If you participate as a coordinator at least 8 times during the semester, you will receive a certificate issued by the director of the Language Studio.

Tips and materials for coordinators

A relaxed and welcoming environment where you can practice languages, meet new people, and get in contact with an international student life.

The cafes are led by volunteer coordinators (not language teachers, but regular students).

  • If the Lanugage Cafe is on Zoom, enter via the link at the top of this page.

The Zoom Room opens around 10 minutes before the cafe begins. You will first enter a waiting room. Please feel free to use a headset.

  • All students and staff at Stockholm University. Alumni are also welcome.
  • All students and staff from any of our partner universities.
