New publication: László Szerencsés on Turkey and Islamic Communities in Serbia
“Influence without Control: Turkey and Islamic Communities in Serbia” examines the limits of Turkey’s transnational authoritarianism in Serbia, focusing on why Ankara was unable to co-opt the country’s dominant Islamic institution between 2016 and 2021 despite strong political ties with Belgrade.
László Szerencsés, SUITS postdoctoral researcher, wrote an article in a special issue of Südosteuropa Mitteilungen on "Turkey in the Western Balkans". The special issue is the result of a workshop organised by Kerem Öktem at the Orient-Institut Istanbul in June 2024
