Call for Papers: CEST Symposium 2027
Theme: Illiberal Peace, Conflict Societies and Political Futures
The Consortium for European Symposia on Turkey (CEST) invites original and unpublished contributions exploring conflict resolution, peace processes and the political futures of conflict-affected societies.
The symposium will focus on three interconnected themes:
- The Illiberal Turn and Conflict Resolution – examining changing approaches to peace processes, reconciliation and governance
- Politics of Spatial and Transitional Justice – including forced migration, destroyed landscapes, disappeared persons, cultural heritage and community-based approaches to recognition and remediation
- Post-(il)liberal Futures – exploring alternative approaches to conflict resolution and the possibilities for societies dealing with unresolved conflict
While Turkey and the Kurdish conflict provide an important point of departure, comparative contributions examining other contexts are strongly encouraged.
The call is open to advanced PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and senior scholars. Selected contributors will be invited to submit full papers, with plans for an edited volume based on selected contributions.
Accommodation and conference meals will be provided, and return travel will be covered up to €400.
Read the full call and submission guidelines on the CEST website.
