Back at the IIES: Meet Karl Harmenberg
Karl recently joined us as Associate Professor. His research focuses primarily on the relationship between the business cycle and the labor market.

In a current project he combines macroeconomic theory with detailed data from Sweden and Norway, studying how wage rigidities and labor market dynamics can amplify economic downturns, with the aim of improving our understanding of recessions and informing the design of monetary and fiscal policy.
He came to the IIES from the University of Oslo, but he's already familiar with our corridors, having completed his PhD at the IIES almost a decade ago.
