The award recognizes researchers who combine academic excellence with exceptional clarity and reach a broad audience.

The jury highlights Hassler’s rare ability to explain complex economic issues in an accessible and relevant way, both in the media and in public debate. His research spans macroeconomics, climate economics, and economic policy, with a strong recent focus on designing effective and socially sustainable climate policy. In addition to an extensive academic publication record, he has led several high-profile government inquiries, including Sweden’s climate strategy.

Guldhumlan celebrates this very combination: deep expertise and a clear commitment to sharing knowledge in a way that helps more people understand the economy.
