Department of Baltic Studies participated in the language café on the European Day of Languages

On 1 October, the Department of Baltic Studies at Stockholm University took part in the European Day of Languages in collaboration with the Embassy of Latvia in Sweden. The language-orientation café was organised at Finland House in Stockholm by the Nätverket Språkdagen, with support from the European Commission Representation in Sweden.

During the event, lower- and upper-secondary school pupils had the opportunity to try out around twenty European languages, including Latvian. Doctoral students Everita Andronova and Signe Rirdance, together with the Embassy’s intern Marta Jansone, introduced visitors to Latvian through short, interactive activities at the Latvian-language table.

The European Day of Languages is observed annually to highlight the importance of languages and encourage interest in language learning.
