Anna Finozzi receives a Royal Swedish Academy scholarship for a Cambridge research stay

Anna Finozzi has been awarded a scholarship by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences to support her forthcoming five-week research stay at the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics (MMLL)

Between 19 April and 23 May 2026, this research stay will take place at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics (MMLL), University of Cambridge, where Anna Finozzi will be a guest of Dr. Elena Emma Sottilotta. The residency will enable her to strengthen scholarly ties with colleagues at Cambridge, to present her ongoing research “Fairy Tales in Transition” within the seminar series organized by the Cambridge Research Network for Fairy-Tale Studies, and to further develop the international research network ICONICs (Italian COllective of Narrations of Interdisciplinary Children’s Studies), which she recently co-founded together with Dr. Sottilotta and colleagues from the University of London, the University of Aquila, and the University of Toronto. The expected outcomes of the visit are threefold. First, this research stay will allow her to complete a substantial portion of an article on the rewriting of Italian fairy tales, drawing on insights gained through the presentation and scholarly discussions at Cambridge. Second, it will contribute to the development of her academic profile by expanding her research network, and co-developing the proposal for the ICONICs edited volume with Routledge, entitled Interdisciplinary Italian Children’s Studies (2027). Third, the visit will foster lasting intellectual connections with Cambridge colleagues, paving the way for future collaborations, including the presentation of ICONICs at the Biennial Meeting of the American Association for Italian Studies in June 2026.

Anna Finozzi

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher and I teach at the Department of Romance Studies and Classics, Stockholm University. My main area of research is Italian Postcolonial Studies; this has proven to be a fruitful field of study to pursue a feminist, decolonial, and interdisciplinary approach to Italian Studies. Under this broader theoretical umbrella, I have explored children’s literature, multilingualism, podcasts, knowledge-production of Italian Studies as a field of research.
