AI is becoming part of how attention is organised, how cultural material circulates, and how people encounter information.
Professor Bosch on the public lecture: Generative AI is becoming part of everyday life, shaping how we search, write, learn, create, entertain ourselves, and make sense of the world. Drawing on my recent book Calibrated Intimacies: Algorithms, Emotion, and the Soft Power of Apps (Palgrave, 2026), this talk explores the growing intimacy of our relationship with AI and the ways engagement, entertainment, and popular culture help make these systems familiar and ordinary.
From recommendation systems and AI generated content to conversational tools and digital companions, AI is becoming part of how attention is organised, how cultural material circulates, and how people encounter information.
The talk considers what these developments mean for journalism and public knowledge, including which forms of knowledge become prominent, how credibility is shaped, and how AI is changing the wider environment in which people encounter, interpret, and share information.
