Autumn semester 2026: new Master’s Programme and new courses

Applications for Autumn semester 2026 are open, with last date to apply 15 April. We’re happy to announce the following additions and updates to the range of programmes and courses we offer.

Please note that the current application window is not suitable for all international applicants, more information about this can be found at the bottom of the page.

New programme: Master's Programme in Computational Mathematics

Our new master’s programme, NMBMO Master's Programme in Computational Mathematics, offers the opportunity to expand and deepen your skills in mathematical modelling, algorithms, numerical methods, and machine learning. This two-year programme emphasizes practical applications across a range of domains. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced algorithms, modern computational techniques, and innovative mathematical methods.

New course: Nonlinear Algebra

The world is nonlinear, so the toolbox of linear algebra is often not sufficient. Polynomials offer a natural generalization of linear functions, and they can in fact approximate arbitrary functions, making them ubiquitous in the sciences and engineering!

The course Nonlinear Algebra will introduce: 1) basic principles from algebraic geometry to solve real-world problems and 2) symbolic/numerical algorithms to solve polynomial systems. The participants will do hands-on investigations (via both proofs and coding) of wide classes of algebraic optimization problems and algebraic inverse problems, coming from various fields of engineering (robotics, computer vision, deep learning, etc).

This course offers a glimpse into real-world applications and an opportunity to learn/refresh coding. The computational framework of the class offers a friendly way into the world of polynomials and algebraic geometry.

MM7054 Nonlinear Algebra 7.5 ECTS credits

More new courses

The course Functional Programming addresses basic programming principles in functional programming, including recursive functions and data types, anonymous functions, and higher-order functions.

DA7069 Functional Programming 7.5 ECTS credits

The course Non-life Insurance Pricing has previously been given in Swedish, but will from now on be given in English.

MT7056 Non-life Insurance Pricing 7.5 ECTS credits

Who can apply?

Please note that the second admissions round, which is currently open, is not suitable for applicants who will need to pay tuition fees and apply for residence permits to study in Sweden. If you are not exempt from this and want to study in Sweden you are very welcome to apply for our master's programmes in the first admissions round, from mid-October to mid-January.
