The 33rd edition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot once again brought together teams from nearly 400 universities across more than 60 jurisdictions worldwide. As the world’s largest and most prestigious moot court competition in international commercial arbitration, it offers students a unique opportunity to engage with complex legal problems in a truly global context.

The Stockholm University team consisted of Tinatin Korkia, Jasper Jenks, Emy Strömberg, Vincent Alm, and Celeste Dean. Over several months, the students worked intensively on written submissions and oral pleadings, developing key legal skills in research, argumentation, and teamwork.

Under the supervision of coaches Pearl Ku Chiu and Andreas Holst, with additional support from Fabricio Fortese, the team refined its arguments and prepared for the demanding oral rounds in Vienna. Their guidance and engagement were central throughout the process.

Strengthening legal skills and international networks

Participation in the Vis Moot provides students with valuable insight into international arbitration practice, while also strengthening their ability to collaborate across legal systems and jurisdictions. The experience offers an important bridge between academic study and professional practice in international commercial law.

Beyond the competition itself, the Vis Moot creates opportunities for meaningful academic and professional exchange. The students met teams from around the world, engaged in discussions on comparative legal approaches, and built connections that extend beyond the competition.

The experience highlights the importance of combining doctrinal knowledge with practical advocacy skills in preparing future lawyers for an increasingly international legal environment.

Acknowledgements

Stockholm University extends its sincere gratitude to law firm Vinge for its generous sponsorship, which made the team’s participation in both the Vis Moot and the pre-moots possible.

We also warmly thank the team’s coaches for their dedicated support throughout the preparation and competition.

Finally, we congratulate all participating students on their strong performance and commitment throughout the 33rd Vis Moot.
