Summer Programme 2026: Meet our teachers

Liliia Oprysk is Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Bergen (Norway). Her research interests include intellectual property and technology law, EU/EEA law, and the approximation of laws with the EU acquis. Liliia holds a PhD from the University of Tartu (Estonia) and has conducted postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich (Germany). Her teaching primarily focuses on EU copyright and data protection law.

In addition to her academic background, Liliia has practical experience in technology-related fields, including IT operations, server infrastructure management, and in-house IT compliance at PwC Germany, EVRY, and Itera.

Sascha Hurst is a doctoral student and lecturer at the Department of Law, Stockholm University. His research interests are in EU law, with a focus on competition and data law. Specifically, Sascha’s project explores requirements for agreements under mandatory data-sharing regimes. He is affiliated with the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Programme – Humanity and Society.

Sascha holds an LL.M. in European Economic Law from Stockholm University, and completed his undergraduate studies at Humboldt University Berlin, Stockholm University, and King’s College London. He is a qualified lawyer in Germany and has working experience in competition and commercial law at law firms in Berlin and Brussels. Besides research, Sascha regularly reports on the development of Swedish commercial law for a German law journal. His teaching includes EU law, competition law, legal methodology, and cyber law.

Ibtisaam Ahmed obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Cape Town and Master of Laws from Cornell University. She is a member of the New York Bar and is currently a lecturer in the Department of Private Law at the University of Cape Town. Her teaching and research focuses on legal history, law and relationality, and the intersection between law and literature.

Viola is a PhD candidate in International Law at the University of Florence. She holds an MA in International Law from the Geneva Graduate Institute and a BA in Philosophy, International Studies, and Economics from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Prior to starting her PhD, she gained professional experience in human rights law and advocacy, engaging on several occasions with the UN Human Rights Council and working with UNDP, Human Rights Watch and the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations. Her doctoral research focuses on non-discrimination law and artificial intelligence.

Her broader research interests include international humanitarian law, the law on the use of force, international human rights law, the impact of new technologies on international law and theories of international law.

Dr. Aleksandrs Fillers, LL.M. is an Associate Professor at the Riga Graduate School of Law. A. Fillers holds an LL.M. degree in international commercial arbitration from the Stockholm University and a Doctorate in Law from the Antwerp University where he is still a faculty member. His primary teaching and research expertise covers private international law, international commercial law, arbitration law and principal branches of private law.

A. Fillers has collaborated on numerous studies of private international law commissioned by the European Commission and European Association of Private International Law. Most recent publications include:

Jill C. Morrison is a fellowship program director and visiting professor at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. She teaches an LL.M. writing course for African women's human rights practitioners. Additionally, she teaches courses focusing on reproductive health, rights, and justice.

Jill spent the early years of her career at the National Women's Law Center, a U.S. NGO, working to advance access to reproductive health care. She currently serves on the International Law Community of the D.C. Bar as the Chair of the Immigration and Human Rights Subcommittee. She is a graduate of Rutgers University (B.A.), Yale Law School (J.D.), and Georgetown (LL.M.).
