Lennart Erixon proposes a new economic policy reform
Lennart Erixon, Professor Emeritus of Economics at Stockholm University, and Samuel Färdow Kazen propose a new economic policy reform for Sweden. The reform would improve the effectiveness of monetary policy and increase financial stability, they write in Ekonomisk Debatt.

The authors’ proposal is based on analyses of today’s monetary system and financial markets, as well as on reform ideas from research. It consists of six points, including the e-krona as a means of payment, the Riksbank’s ability to distribute citizen dividends, and the establishment of a state-owned investment bank, which already exists in several other OECD countries.
The proposals could be implemented gradually, but would nevertheless entail a major shift in economic policy, Erixon and Färdow Kazen write. “Our new paradigm has the potential to make monetary policy more effective … It could reduce economic inequalities, increase financial stability, and strengthen competition and innovation in the financial sector,” they conclude.
