Hedda Thorell, a PhD student in economics at Stockholm University, and Gökhan Ider at Freie Universität Berlin, have been awarded the Lamfalussy Fellowship, along with an honorarium of 10,000 euro. Together they study the design of monetary policy in the euro area.
The Lamfalussy Fellowship is a program at the European Central Bank, where up to to five research proposals annually receive an honorarium of 10,000 euro.
Hedda Thorell’s research project is a collaboration with Gökhan Ider at Freie Universität Berlin. The PhD students will work on their study ”News-driven fluctuations and monetary policy transmission” during the program.
”We combine news data with data from financial markets and study how news affects euro‑area countries in different ways, and how this shapes the design and transmission of monetary policy in the euro area,” says Hedda.
