Stockholm University receives funding for new EU-focused master’s programme
The Department of Economics is co-developing a new master’s programme in public administration and the European Union, which has now been awarded government funding.

The initiative aims to strengthen expertise in EU-related issues and public administration. The master’s programme will launch in autumn 2026 and initially offer specialisations in economics and political science, with a law specialisation to be added at a later stage.
”We are very pleased to receive funding that enables us to offer a broad and cohesive education for future public servants. The programme combines law, political science and economics, giving students a strong foundation for careers in public administration and within the EU,” says Göran Sundström, Professor of Political Science.
Sweden is currently underrepresented within the EU administration, while many officials are expected to retire in the coming years, according to Adam Jacobsson, Director of Studies at the Department of Economics.
”This means that the labour market outlook is promising, and there are good opportunities for new graduates to find employment,” he says.
Stockholm University will receive SEK 9 million in 2026 and is expected to receive an additional SEK 18 million from 2027.
