Science communication at the OKC
How do we spread scientific results to as large an audience as possible? And how do we overcome the challenges that science communication faces in an ever changing media landscape? In this colloquium, I will adress these questions by presenting some insights that I’ve learned on my journey from research to science communication. I will discuss my experience of working at the Communications Department of the European Southern Observatory, writing a popular science book about black holes and freelancing as a science journalist. Along the way, I will give some tips that can make life easier for scientists when it comes to maximising their science outreach impact. I will finish by presenting the future OKC communications strategy, and what it will mean for the researchers working at the OKC.
