THEME: Communication as a tool (in everyday work)

The program will be focused on communication as a tool in our everyday work, which means we are not going to talk about outreach or how to communicate science to general public, or to media. We are going to learn about different tools that we can use every day, both while collaborating with collegues, and when giving seminars or colloquia to other scientists.

This is a tentative program, but it might adjust a bit in the coming weeks. The program will be run in collaboration with KreativitetsReboot in the persons of Katarina Wahlberg and Veronica Bergström Carlsten, and will have a very much hands-on spirit. We are going to run several workshops and activities.

PROGRAM

9:30-10:00 Coffee and buns

10:00 - 11:00 Body language - Workshop By KreativitetsReboot

Communication is not just about the content. In fact our body language and voice make up 93 % of our communication. Working on body language is a great way for anyone seeking to become a more confident, trustworthy and charismatic speaker. In this
workshop you will test ways to connect with the audience, gain their confidence and raise enthusiasm and energy.

11:00 - 12:00 Active listening - Workshop By KreativitetsReboot

Great communication stems from listening. In order to pitch yourself or get your message across you have to start with listening to the
person you are talking to. Often when we think that we are listening we are in fact thinking, judging and evaluating.

12:00- 13:30 Lunch

13:30 - 15:00 Storytelling - Workshop By KreativitetsReboot

Theater plays, films and novels all seek to tell stories in a way that engages the audience. But great and engaging stories are not limited to the world of fiction. Every experiment and research project can be a great story. In this workshop we will teach you some of the tools of storytelling and how you can apply them on your work.

15:00 - 15:30 Coffee break

15:30 - 17:30 Building the Perfect Team - Serena & You

What makes a perfect team? Why some work groups thrive and others falter? Workshop for the OKC Working Groups.

17:30 - 18:30 Outdoor games (for those who want to)

18:30 Dinner
