I will present an analysis of large-angle anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background radiation in intensity and polarization, which is based on data that have been most recently assessed by the Planck satellite. I will describe how these angular scales, which are most directly connected to the physics of the Early Universe, display patterns which appear anomalous in the context of the otherwise well-known LCDM model. Focusing on the established lack of power at these scales, I will also present some very recent results which point to a possible link with the physics of the inflationary phase, stressing at the same time how looking at data with different assumptions and perspectives may reinforce the case for alternative cosmological models.
